Die singende Familie prägte besonders die Country-Stilrichtung Blue Grass, welche auf den Einsatz von Gitarre und Mandoline basiert. Um 1935 konnte sich in Texas die Honky Tonk Music etablieren. In den Kneipen unweit der Ölfelder wurde diese härtere Gangart des Country geprägt.
