Salo is the shock art that people pretend a serbian film is. I feel like the only person who will defend a Serbian film by admitting that it is purely shock for shock’s sake. Salo feels like it explores relationships of power more than it feels like a shock movie. The things that happen in the movie are shocking.

Bad Biology -- revolves entirely around sexuality-related body horror, but fair warning, I found its overall quality extremely lacking.

24. Dez. 2023 · I also just like the shitstorm it causes whenever someone shows support for it, even (or especially) in the extreme cinema crowd. A Serbian Film was one of the first disturbing movies I ever watched. It was quite a while ago so my memory is quite hazy on it, but certain scenes have stuck in my mind.
10. Juli 2021 · Icl, I’ve mostly forgotten it now- but it was COVID time, so in my defence there was a lot of films. I didn’t really struggle to watch it tbh. The most jarring part would probably be the scene with the baby (am I thinking about the right film?)

A Serbian Film is all about shock horror and driving the literal metaphor as far out as possible without really having all that much depth to it in the end. Irreversible will teach you some shit about destruction of the human soul and ego driven revenge.
