Michael Webb Pierce (August 8, 1921 – February 24, 1991) was an American honky-tonk vocalist, songwriter and guitarist of the 1950s, one of the most popular of the genre, charting more number one hits than any other country artist during the decade.
Webb Pierce trat bereits im Alter von 15 Jahren als Sänger in einer lokalen Radiostation auf. Nach einer dreijährigen Armee-Zeit, in der er auch heiratete, zog er 1944 nach Shreveport. Hier fand er eine Anstellung als Schuhverkäufer bei Sears, Roebuck. Abends trat er gemeinsam mit seiner Frau in der örtlichen Clubszene auf.

1. Sept. 2021 · Seit Ende der 1950er Jahre nahm Pierce regelmäßig von Tillis geschriebene Songs auf. Tillis sagte über Webb Pierce: „Webb war ein besserer Geschäftsmann als ich. Ich verkaufte Webb einmal von vier Songs die Hälfte meiner Autorenrechte für $ 150 und ein paar Cowboystiefel.“ Und ja, Cedarwood wurde natürlich Tillis‘ Publisher.
