The district derives its name from Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy of Tirumala Hills and Tirupati is its headquarters town. It is located between the Northern Latitudes of 130 21′ 54″ and 140- 8′ 32″ and between the Eastern Longitudes 790 5′ 42″ and 800 4′ 10″.

History. Tirupati District formed from a part of erstwhile Chittoor District and a part from earst while SPSR Nellore District on 4th April, 2022, when the Districts re-organized in Andhra Pradesh State.
