Gillian L. L. Lester (born October 30, 1964) is a Canadian legal scholar who is the 15th Dean of Columbia Law School. She joined Columbia Law School on January 1, 2015, as Dean and Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law.

Gillian Lester is Dean and Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. As Columbia Law’s 15th dean, she has led the faculty in recruiting more than two dozen full-time professors, establishing six new law clinics, and strengthening and expanding the Law School’s intellectual and scholarly depth.
Gillian Lester, Berkeley Law’s acting dean and a professor at the school since 2006, has accepted an offer to become the next dean of Columbia Law School.
Between the end of the current academic year and January 1, when Lester officially begins her tenure as dean, Robert Scott, Alfred McCormack Professor of Law, has agreed to serve as interim dean beginning on July 1 and will be working closely with Gillian to ensure a smooth and effective transition.
