Turco-Egyptian Sudan (Arabic: التركى المصرى السودان), also known as Turkiyya (Arabic: التركية, at-Turkiyyah) or Turkish Sudan, describes the rule of the Eyalet and later Khedivate of Egypt over what is now Sudan and South Sudan.
Türkisch-Ägyptischer Sudan oder Turkiyya bezeichnet den Sudan unter ägyptischer Herrschaft, die von 1821 bis 1885 andauerte. Unter dem ägyptischen Wali Muhammad Ali Pascha wurden zunächst weite Teile des Nordsudans erobert und Ägypten angeschlossen, Ismail Pascha erweiterte das unter Kontrolle stehende Gebiet bis nach Zentralafrika.

6th cent. – 15th cent. c. 9th cent. – 19th cent. Throughout its history, Darfur has been the home to several cultures and kingdoms, such as the Daju and Tunjur kingdoms. The recorded history of Darfur begins in the seventeenth century, with the foundation of the Fur Sultanate by the Keira dynasty.
In 1916, after the British government suspected that the sultan was falling under the influence of the Ottoman government, an expedition was launched from Egypt to capture and annex Darfur into the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.
