While writing the liner notes for his first compilation, 1977’s Decade, Young alluded to his former friend and guitar player, plus the untold number of friends and collaborators who came and went over the years.
Am 18. November 1972 starb Danny Whitten an einer Überdosis Diazepam (Valium) in Verbindung mit zu viel Alkohol. Andere Quellen sagen, er habe eine Überdosis Methaqualon eingenommen. "I Don't Want to Talk About It" is a song written by American guitarist Danny Whitten. It was first recorded by American rock band Crazy Horse and issued as the final track on side one of their 1971 eponymous album. It was Whitten's signature tune, but gained more fame via its numerous cover versions, especially that by Rod Stewart.
The band's origins date to 1963 and the Los Angeles-based a cappella doo-wop group Danny & the Memories, which consisted of lead singer Danny Whitten and supporting vocalists Lou Bisbal (soon to be replaced by Benjamin Rocco, the husband of actress Lorna Maitland ), Billy Talbot, and Ralph Molina.
