Shania Twain was the face of the Country Pop movement throughout the 90s. Women were dominating the country music charts, however their success was not solely due to their music.
Country ist eine Musikrichtung aus den USA. Um das Jahr 1920 begannen vor allem Einwanderer aus Großbritannien und Irland damit, Volksmusik aus ihrer Heimat mit dem damals beliebten Blues zu verbinden. So entstand die Country-Musik. Country ist das englische Wort für Land, hier im Sinne einer ländlichen Gegend.
