Emory Lee Gordy Jr. (born December 25, 1944) is an American musician, songwriter and music producer. A former member of Emmylou Harris ' backing band The Hot Band, he is best known for his association with country singer Patty Loveless, to whom he has been married since 1989.
The initial members comprised Vince Gill (background vocals, electric guitar), Hank DeVito (steel guitar), Emory Gordy Jr. (bass guitar), Richard Bennett (electric guitar), Tony Brown , and Larrie Londin . As The Cherry Bombs, the band backed both Crowell and Rosanne Cash, to whom Crowell was married at the time.

Her second marriage was to Emory Gordy Jr. in February 1989. Gordy has served as bassist and producer on nearly all of Loveless's albums. Gordy had previously played bass in Emmylou Harris's touring band the Hot Band, and has also produced albums by the Bellamy Brothers, Earl Thomas Conley, and Alabama, among others.

Walls Can Fall was produced by Emory Gordy, Jr. Gordy had previously produced albums by Steve Earle and Bill Monroe, among others, and Jones was backed by the usual top players and songwriters in Nashville.

Born December 24, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, Gordy quickly gravitated to anything that made music. By age four he knew his way around a piano keyboard; at six he had begun to tackle the trumpet and would soon learn the banjo, euphonium, guitar, and ukelele.
