The Party of Regions was a pro- Russian and regionalist political party in Ukraine which was founded on 26 October 1997 by Volodymyr Rybak. The party advocated for closer ties with Russia and promoted the Russian language and culture in Ukraine, causing it to draw support from the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.
