The word, I think it's an adjective, describes experiencing something second-hand. It could be used to describe, for example, gossiping or reading a book - the listener/reader experiences second-hand what he/she hears/reads.

  3. 17. Mai 2013 · The advantage of using minute and second symbols for time is that it obviously expresses a duration rather than a time. From the time 01:00:00 to the time 02:34:56 is a duration of 1 hour, 34 minutes and 56 seconds (1h 34′ 56″) Prime markers start single and are multiplied for susbsequent appearances, so minutes use a single prime ′ and ...

"Sec" is an (incorrect) abbreviation for second, and "sect" is another word; neither is likely to lead to actual misunderstandings but can mean a sentence is unintuitive at first glance.

  8. 1. Juli 2012 · J.R.: Yes, I didn't want to clog up the answer itself with that level of detail, but when the word "the" is part of the "the one side/hand" juxtaposed with "the other side/hand", most of the instances with "hand" are exactly OP's context, but very few of the (far less common anyway) instances of "side" are actually for that "weighing up of alternatives" sense.

  9. You should use a space between the number and the unit (), except in the case of the prime and double prime.. (The NIST page doesn’t address those in the context of inches and feet, since scientific writing does not use inches or feet, but they do say not to use a space before the prime and double prime in the context of minutes and seconds of angl

  10. In the above questions, "lemon" is used to mean a faulty or defective item. A typical use might be to describe a second hand car that, once bought, turns out to have serious faults, as a "lemon". Why is the delicious fruit associated with faulty goods? Etymonline says:
