  2. Mansfield College, Oxford is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. The college was founded in Birmingham in 1838 as a college for Nonconformist students. It moved to Oxford in 1886 and was renamed Mansfield College after George Mansfield and his sister Elizabeth.

  5. In 1838 Mansfield was founded as a theology college, Spring Hill College, in Birmingham. In 1887 we moved to our current home in Oxford. From 1913 we accepted women for ordination. In 1955 we joined Oxford University as a Permanent Private Hall. From 1979 we welcomed mixed cohorts.

  6. About the college. Mansfield College offers an informal, stimulating environment in which tutors and students work together to achieve academic excellence and sustain a supportive as well as lively community. In any one year there are around 195 graduates in the Middle Common Room (MCR).

  7. Principal’s Welcome. Mansfield College is special. Founded in the nineteenth century to allow Dissenters to study at Oxford University, we were also one of the first ‘men’s’ colleges in Oxford to admit women to study for degrees.
