Synopsis of Scenes & Songs. RUNNING TIME: 2 hours 25 mins (includes 1 x 20 minute interval) AGE RECOMMENDATION: BUDDY is suitable for all ages – from 8-80+! The action takes place in Lubbock, Texas, Clovis, New Mexico, New York and Clear Lake, Iowa, between January 1956 and February 1959.

Since opening at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, in August 1989, Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story has played 614 weeks (4,900 performances) on tour in the UK, and 728 weeks (5,822 performances) in London’s West End – for a total of 10,722 UK performances!
The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences opened in Lubbock in January, 2021. The tragic plane crash inspired singer Don McLean’s popular 1971 ballad ‘American Pie’, and immortalized February 3rd as “The Day The Music Died”.
