Sunwapta Falls is a pair of waterfalls of the Sunwapta River in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The falls are accessible via a 600-metre (2,000 ft) access road off the Icefields Parkway, which connects Jasper and Banff National Parks. The falls have a drop of about 18.5 metres (61 feet).

Der Wasserfall ist über den Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) auf befestigten Wegen erreichbar. Er ist insgesamt etwa 18 Meter hoch und rund neun Meter breit. Das Wasser des Sunwapta River stammt vom Athabasca-Gletscher und fällt hier in zwei Stufen hinab. Ein Wanderweg von etwa zwei Kilometern führt zu dem unteren Wasserfall (Lower Falls).
Der Name Sunwapta ist eine Bezeichnung der einheimischen indigenen Urbevölkerung und meint so viel wie Wildes Wasser. Im späten Frühjahr, wenn die Schneeschmelze auf den Gipfeln eingesetzt hat, zeigt der Wasserfall die größten Turbulenzen.
At Sunwapta Falls, the smaller "hanging" Chaba Valley and larger Athabasca Valley join in a spectacular stepping waterfall that has carved a deep limestone gorge out of the rock some metres below the footbridge.
11. Juni 2024 · Like Athabasca Falls, Sunwapta Falls isn’t a very high Alberta waterfall at only 62 feet, but it’s widely known for its crystal clear waters, very powerful water flow in the summer, and stunning ice features in the winter.

29. März 2024 · The Rockies of Jasper National Park are well known for spectacular mountain views, enormous glaciers, and tons of wildlife. There is also no shortage of amazing waterfalls! Sunwapta Falls is one of my favorites because it’s absolutely stunning and so easy to get to.
10. Sept. 2023 · Sunwapta Falls is a stunning waterfall located in Jasper National Park, Alberta. It is a great stop on the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper! The falls consist of Upper and Lower Falls, which are fed by the amazing Athabasca Glacier. Around these falls, there are incredible hiking trails through the forest.
