Charles Burke Elbrick (March 25, 1908 – April 12, 1983) was a United States diplomat and career foreign service officer. During his career, he served three ambassadorships: in Portugal, Yugoslavia and Brazil, in addition to numerous minor postings.
The 1969 kidnapping of the United States Ambassador to Brazil was the kidnapping of Charles Burke Elbrick by the National Liberation Action (ALN) and the October 8th Revolutionary Movement (MR8) in protest of the US-backed military dictatorship.
The organization, by then already acting as an urban guerrilla, became nationally and internationally known through its central role in the kidnapping of the American ambassador in Brazil Charles Burke Elbrick, in September 1969.
