Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich daraus die „Danza“, eine vornehme Salonmusik. Sie wurde in Charangas gespielt, die einem klassischen europäischen Orchester ähneln: Geigen, Bratschen, Celli, Kontrabass und Flöte. Die europäischen Pauken wurden durch die kreolischen Timbales ersetzt.

Danzón. Der europäische Einfluss auf die kubanische Musik im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert ist am deutlichsten im Danzón zu erkennen, einer eleganten Tanzform, die sich von Kuba aus über ganz Lateinamerika und besonders in Mexiko ausbreitete. Ihre Wurzeln liegen in den europäischen Ballsälen.

18. Jan. 2018 · Danzón is a ballroom dance played by the Cuban charangas. It is a descendant of the popular the Spanish danza of the 1800s and the French contredanse (contradanza) brought by the French immigrants fleeing the Haitian Revolution, who settled in the Cuba's eastern region.
Musically, the danzón stands out for its alternation of the contradanza’s paseo acting as refrain, an allegretto clarinet trio, an andante violin trio, and an allegro brass trio. The piano joined wind instruments by the early 1900s, eventually playing a leading role.
