25. Aug. 2024 · There is no option to ask ebay to step in. If you contact them, they will just refund without you getting a refund of selling fee. Always best to deal with, without involving ebay. You accept return, buy a return label, and on return refund. THEN you can report buyer for abuse of the return system, but it will just be a waste of your time.

However, if the buyer opened the item not received claim with eBay more than 30 days after the estimated delivery date showing on the order, they will likely not be able to escalate it to ask eBay to step in now, so it will eventually close in your favour.
