As a starlet, she was very well-read and outspoken, a rare bird in 1950s Hollywood. She had opinions about literature, politics, psychology, etc., and expressed them with wit.

"Widmark was apparently very uncomfortable with some of the racist comments his character, Ray Biddle, made, especially given his friendship with Sidney Poitier. As a result, after some of the takes involving particularly venomous remarks, Widmark apologized to Poitier."

Dez. 2021 · For those who think Winters wasn't a good actress watch The Diary of Anne Frank (1959), Lolita (1962) Alfie (1966) and Next Stop Greenwich Village (1976) Her talent doesn't matter, she was fat! Shelley Winters may have made a wonderful writer or watchmaker. But the cinema is a visual medium.
