Her mother is also famously known as the wife of the late English musician John Lennon, a co-lead vocalist of the English rock band, The Beatles.
Cox and Kyoko contacted Yoko Ono after the death of Lennon in 1980, [1] without revealing their location. Subsequently, Ono agreed not to actively attempt to locate her daughter, although she still desired to make contact.

In 1971, her father abducted Kyoko (aged 8) and they followed Melinda Cox into a Doomsday cult called The Walk. Anthony Cox left the group with Kyoko in 1977 and they became fundamentalist Christians. They later helped produce a film documentary exposing the cult.
