Last Saturday, July 9, the play "Medea" premiered in the ancient Epidaurus theatre, and in attendance was opposition leader Alexis Tsipras and his partner, Betty Baziana. For the first time, the play - a milestone in modern Greek drama - is staged at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, under the direction of Yiannis Kalavrianou.
Tsipras is not married. His registered partner is Peristera "Betty" Baziana, an electrical and computer engineer. They met in 1987, at the age of 13, at Ampelokipoi Branch High School. Both eventually became members of the Communist Youth of Greece.
