  3. With a history of over 250 years, the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts is one of the oldest training institutions for fine arts in Europe. It was founded by the Wettins as the “Haupt-Kunst-Akademie” (Main Art Academy) in 1764.

  6. The Fine Arts study programme provides students with the opportunity to gain basic experience and skills from the diversity of contemporary art in order to pursue their own artistic path. The need for the 10-semester course of study at the HfBK Dresden results, above all, from the complex discussion that takes place between teachers and students.

  7. Locations. The university is located at three places. The studios and workshops of Faculty I, Fine Arts, are spread over the locations Brühlsche Terrasse and Pfotenhauerstraße. The Brühlsche Terrasse building also houses the Oktogon's exhibition rooms, the academys archive, as well as the anatomical collection.
