Aglomeracja rybnicko-jastrzębska – aglomeracja policentryczna w zachodniej części województwa śląskiego, której obszary śródmiejskie stanowią duże miasta na prawach powiatu: Rybnik, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Żory oraz przyległe gminy miejskie: Pszów, Radlin, Rydułtowy i Wodzisław Śląski.
Aglomeracja rybnicko-jastrzębska jest częścią większego obszaru metropolitalnego, w skład którego wchodzą również Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia i aglomeracja ostrawska. Odległość w linii prostej z centrum Rybnika do granicy państwa z Republiką Czeską wynosi 19 km.
W Polsce znajduje się kilka większych aglomeracji. Według najnowszych źródeł, najludniejszą aglomerację oraz obszar metropolitalny w Polsce posiada Warszawa przed Katowicami ( konurbacja górnośląska ), następnie Trójmiasto, Kraków, Łódź oraz Poznań .

Historical population
Historically, Rybnik was a small town, with population exceeding 1,000 people only in the late 1700s. It was similar in size to neighboring Żory and Wodzisław Śląski, around half the size of Gliwice and 1/3 the size of Racibórz.
