Lausanne ( /lɔ.zan/) est une ville suisse située sur la rive nord du lac Léman. Capitale du canton de Vaud 3, elle est également capitale olympique et chef-lieu du district de Lausanne. Elle est la quatrième ville du pays en nombre d'habitants 4 après Zurich, Genève et Bâle.
Lausanne ist ein bedeutendes Wirtschafts-, Kultur- und Bildungszentrum sowie eine wichtige Verkehrsdrehscheibe in der Westschweiz. Das höchste Schweizer Gericht, das Bundesgericht, befindet sich hier, ebenso der Hauptsitz des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees (IOC), weshalb die Stadt den Übernamen «olympische Hauptstadt» trägt.
