Trotz seines hohen Bekanntheitsgrades und der Lage am Schnittpunkt wichtiger Fernstraßen im westlichen Irland liegt Limerick etwas abseits der touristischen Hochburgen. Wer am Unterlauf des Shannon die Kilrush Ferry zwischen Killimer in Clare und Tarbert in Kerry nutzt, lässt den County Limerick sogar komplett links liegen. Was jedoch schade wäre.
