Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (born Luigi Buonaparte; 2 September 1778 – 25 July 1846) was a younger brother of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French. He was a monarch in his own right from 1806 to 1810, ruling over the Kingdom of Holland (a French client state roughly corresponding to the modern-day Netherlands ).

Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (* 2. September 1778 in Ajaccio, Korsika; † 25. Juli 1846 in Livorno) war einer von vier Brüdern des Kaisers Napoleon I. von Frankreich. Von 1806 bis 1810 war er als Lodewijk Napoleon König des von seinem Bruder geschaffenen Königreichs Holland .
Louis Napoleon was never crowned as king of Holland and problems with his sovereignty would haunt him during his entire reign. Shortly after his arrival, Louis Napoleon appointed three members of the Council of State to draft a new constitution for the new monarchy.
Louis Napoleon Bonaparte’s (1778-1846), exclamation ‘Iek ben Konijn van Olland’ (I am Rabbit of Holland) in poor Dutch is legendary. He meant to say ‘King of Holland’, which he was from 1806 to 1810. Despite being a humorous slip of the tongue, it attests to his effort to master his subjects’ language.
