Val Lewton: The Man in the Shadows (also known as Martin Scorsese Presents: Val Lewton – The Man in the Shadows) is a documentary tribute to Val Lewton, the producer of a series of distinctive low-budget horror films for RKO Radio Pictures, presented and narrated by director Martin Scorsese.

Raised by his mother and his aunt, his films often included strong female characters who find themselves in difficult situations and who have to grow up quickly.
A documentary film, Martin Scorsese Presents: Val Lewton – The Man in the Shadows, was released in 2007. In May 2017, "The Secret History Of Hollywood", a podcast biopic series by Adam Roche, began an eleven-part season on his life and work – 'Shadows' – featuring Mark Gatiss.
