Dusk to Dawn would mark the final professional collaboration between King Vidor and Florence Vidor. By the early 1920s, Florence Vidor had emerged as a major film star in her own right and wished to pursue her career independently of her spouse.
Houston-born-and-bred Florence Vidor was one of the great beauties of early Hollywood. But while her photogenic looks went a long way, audiences would not get to enjoy or really experience her voice as she abruptly left the silver screen after her first disastrous attempt at a talking picture.

King Vidor wurde als Sohn eines wohlhabenden Holzhändlers geboren und überlebte als Kind den Galveston-Hurrikan von 1900. Schon früh vom neuen Medium des Kinos begeistert, begann er seine Karriere als freier Kameramann und heiratete 1915 die aufstrebende Filmschauspielerin Florence Arto.
