Charles Michel (French: [ʃaʁl mi'ʃɛl]; born 21 December 1975) is a Belgian politician serving as the president of the European Council since 2019. He previously served as the prime minister of Belgium between 2014 and 2019.

Nach seinem Studium wurde er Rechtsanwalt in Brüssel. Für Charles Michel dreht sich das Recht immer um die Menschen und um den Schutz ihrer Rechte und Freiheiten. Schon früh hatte sich Charles Michel für Politik begeistert, und kurz nach seinem Universitätsabschluss beschloss er, bei Wahlen anzutreten.
Passionate about politics from a young age, Charles Michel decided to run in the elections soon after university. He was elected as a member of the federal parliament in 1999. A year later, he became the Walloon Minister for Interior Affairs and Civil Service, and in 2007, Federal Minister for Development Cooperation.
24. März 2022 · The European Council today re-elected Charles Michel as its president for a second term of two and a half years, from 1 June 2022 to 30 November 2024. Charles Michel was also re-appointed as President of the Euro Summit for the same period.
