João Bosco Soares Mota Amaral GCC • GCIH (Ponta Delgada, 15 de Abril de 1943) é um político português, filiado no Partido Social Democrata. Foi deputado à Assembleia Nacional (eleito como independente nas listas da Ação Nacional Popular) na Primavera Marcelista, últimos anos do Estado Novo.
João Bosco Soares Mota Amaral (born 15 April 1943) is a Portuguese politician. He served as President of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal from 2002 to 2005 and President of the Autonomous Regional Government of the Azores from 1976 to 1995.
Entre 1976 e 1995 foi Presidente do Governo da Região Autónoma dos Açores, conforme resultados eleitorais vitoriosos verificados em eleições livres, pontualmente realizadas de quatro em quatro anos. Foi Vice-Presidente da Assembleia da República na VII e VIII Legislaturas.
Following the first elections, held on 8 September 1976, the leader of the first party was installed as first President of the Government of the Azores (João Bosco Mota Amaral), responsible for forming his executive and cabinet to administer the functioning of the public service in the Azores.

No dia em que completou 80 anos, João Bosco Mota Amaral falava em Ponta Delgada, ilha de São Miguel, nos Açores, num almoço de aniversário que “foi uma grande partida”, pois estava “preparado para festejar com a família os 78 anos, cumprindo a recomendação de andar para trás na idade”.
Mota Amaral foi Vice-Presidente da Assembleia da República nas VII e VIII Legislaturas, de 30 de outubro de 1995 a 4 de abril de 2002. A 9 de abril de 2002, na IX Legislatura, é eleito Presidente deste órgão, na IX Legislatura, cargo que ocupa até 9 de março de 2005.
