Big Blue is the mascot at Utah State University and is part of the USU Spirit Squad, which also contains the Cheer Squad and the Aggiettes. Big Blue performs at games and at campus and community events.
12. Sept. 2023 · Back in the mid-1970s, USU experimented with a live animal mascot, a feisty, white bull named GUS — an acronym for “Go Utah State” — who was painted blue before athletic events. But GUS did too much damage to the grass field at Romney Stadium (despite the addition of rubber boots), and he was soon retired.
