Architect Antonio Cruz Villalón was born in Seville, Spain, in 1948, and graduated from the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid in 1971. He is a member of the Andalusian Architects' Association (Num. 953). Antonio Ortiz was born in Seville in 1947, and graduated from the same university in 1974.

Two Spanish architects - Antonio Cruz Villalón (born 1948) en Antonio Ortiz García (born 1947) who worked together since 1971 forming architecture firm Cruz y Ortiz, were chosen by the Dutch authorities to lead the reconstruction of the Rijksmuseum for the century ahead.
Der Entwurf stammt von den Architekten Antonio Cruz Villalón und Antonio Ortiz García (Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos). Für das mit einer Membran bespannte Ringseildach mit einer Grundrissfläche von 25.000 m² war Schlaich Bergermann Partner aus Stuttgart verantwortlich.
