Brasilia ist die Hauptstadt von Brasilien und liegt in der Region Zentral-West des Landes im Brasilianischen Bergland ( Planalto Central bzw. Brasileiro) umgeben vom Cerrado. Die moderne, strikt auf dem Reißbrett geplante Stadt, hat heute etwa 2,8 Millionen Einwohner und ist damit deutlich kleiner als die Metropolen Rio de Janeiro und São Paulo.
