The Saint John River (French: Fleuve Saint-Jean; Maliseet-Passamaquoddy: Wolastoq) is a 673-kilometre-long (418 mi) river flowing within the Dawnland region from headwaters in the Notre Dame Mountains near the Maine-Quebec border through western New Brunswick to the northwest shore of the Bay of Fundy.

The Bay of Fundy (French: Baie de Fundy) is a bay between the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, with a small portion touching the U.S. state of Maine. It is an arm of the Gulf of Maine. Its tidal range is the highest in the world. The name is probably a corruption of the French word fendu, meaning 'split'.

7. Feb. 2006 · Last Edited October 4, 2023. Saint John River, 673 km long, rises in northern Maine and flows northeast into the forests of Madawaska County to Edmundston, where it is joined by the Madawaska River and turns southeast, forming much of the border between Maine and New Brunswick.

Apr. 2024 · Saint John River, large river rising in Somerset county in northwestern Maine, U.S., and flowing northeast to the Canadian border, where it gradually turns southeast to form the international boundary for 80 miles (130 km). Just above Grand Falls, the river enters Canada and flows through New Brunswick into the Bay of Fundy at Saint John.
