Hwaseong (Korean pronunciation: [ɸʷa.sʌŋ]) is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It has the largest area of farmland of any city or county in Gyeonggi Province. Seoul Subway Line 1 passes through Hwaseong, stopping at Byeongjeom Station. Suin Bundang Line also passes through Hwaseong, stopping at Eocheon Station.

Lee Chun-jae (Korean: 이춘재; born 31 January 1963) is a South Korean serial killer known for committing the Hwaseong serial murders. Between 1986 and 1994, Lee murdered fifteen women and girls in addition to committing numerous sexual assaults, predominantly in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and the surrounding areas.

Hwaseong Fortress or Suwon Hwaseong is a fortification surrounding the centre of Suwon, the provincial capital of Gyeonggi Province, in South Korea. It was built from 1794 to 1796 by King Jeongjo of the Joseon dynasty to house and honour the remains of his father, Prince Sado.
Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Sehenswürdigkeit schlechthin von Suwon ist die Festung Hwaseong, die von 1794 bis 1796 von König Jeongjo erbaut wurde. Ihre 5,7 km lange Mauer umschloss ursprünglich die gesamte Stadt und besitzt 4 Tore. Die Festung wurde während der japanischen Kolonialzeit und des Koreakriegs beschädigt, danach aber restauriert.
