Sucre, auch Chuquisaca (Name auf Quechua) ist die offizielle Hauptstadt von Bolivien. Die Stadt liegt in einem Tal östlich des Altiplano, auf etwa 2.850 m Höhe und hat etwa 237.000 Einwohner. Bekannt ist sie für ihre zahlreichen Kolonialbauten, von denen viele in strahlendem Weiß leuchten.
Sucre gilt als die schönste Stadt Boliviens und ebenso als die besterhaltene Kolonialstadt Südamerikas. Sie wurde 1992 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Wie in vielen anderen Städten findet am zentralen Plaza das Leben statt und die Prachtbauten reihen sich aneinander.
