James Bundy (born May 8, 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American theatre director and teacher who has served as Dean of Yale School of Drama and Artistic Director of Yale Repertory Theatre since 2002. Biography. Early life. Bundy was born in Boston in 1959, one of four children of McGeorge Bundy and Mary Bundy.
Bundy matriculated at Harvard, “a very desultory English major” who got deep into the College’s drama scene, acting under the now acclaimed director Peter Sellars ’80 and staging Brendan Behan’s The Hostage and Tom Stoppard’s Albert’s Bridge.
James Bundy (he/him/his) has served as Elizabeth Parker Ware Dean of David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and Artistic Director of Yale Repertory Theatre since 2002. He teaches in the Acting program at the School and in the Theater Studies program in Yale College.

He is reportedly the longest-serving artistic director/dean in the U.S., and by the end of his fourth term in 2022 he will have overseen nearly seven generations of graduate classes.
