Lasham is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Lasham Gliding Society is now one of the largest gliding clubs in the world. Over 220 gliders are based at the airfield. The airfield is in constant use throughout the year and regularly hosts national and regional gliding championships.
Prospero had officially been deactivated in 1996, when the UK's Defence Research Establishment decommissioned their satellite tracking station at Lasham, Hampshire but the satellite had been turned on in past years on its anniversary.

10. Juli 2018 · The longest British heatwave since 1976 has revealed the outline of a Second World War airfield once part of Lasham Airfield. The Hampshire airfield was previously known as RAF Lasham which opened in 1942 as a Forward fighter airfield.
SUHPA’s maiden flight was back at the airfield where human-powered flight’s history was first made, Lasham Airfield in Hampshire. Derek Piggot, the pilot from the 1961 flight, watched from the airfield as SUHPA became airborne. 'Speed with Guy Martin' team at Lasham Airfield.
