Adolf Hitler, chancellor and dictator of Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, committed suicide via a gunshot to the head on 30 April 1945 in the Führerbunker in Berlin after it became clear that Germany would lose the Battle of Berlin, which led to the end of World War II in Europe.

Annual number of suicides from firearms per 100,000 people. Suicide deaths are underreported in many countries due to social stigma and cultural or legal concerns. This data is adjusted for this underreporting to estimate the actual rate of suicides.
In all cases, integration of circumstantial data and crime scene investigation suggested a suicidal event.Firstly, we describe the self-infliction of two gunshots to the chest and head in a 90-year-old man by a revolver with wounds to the left lung and lethal wound to both frontal and temporal lobes.
