Biography. Thomas J. Miles earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in political science and economics from Tufts University in 1990. He earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago in 2000. His dissertation was titled "Three Empirical Essays in the Economics of Crime."
