The performances on this album were recorded during a live radio concert, broadcast in New York by WABC-FM on November 17th, 1970. The broadcast originated at A&R Recording Studios, New York. The Tapes were mixed at Trident Studios, London.

Before the flashy costumes, the adult-contemporary pop and the classic rock staples, John was a piano player, a singer and leader of a trio. It’s a period under-explored by most rock fans and, as the new reissue of 17-11-70 shows, it’s a period deserving of attention.
Sicherlich ist dieses Album auf dem wir ein Konzert von Elton John hören bei dem Exklusiv nur 200 ausgewählte Gäste dabei sein durften (nämlich am 17-11-70 so heisst auch das Album) etwas außergewöhnliches (und es zeigt mal wieder, dass Elton John Live etwas ganz besonderes ist)aber ich finde Elton John Live ist etwas ganz besonderes wenn man ihn wirklich Live erleben kann.

It was re-mixed at Dick James Studio, London, and the reduction was engineered by CLIVE FRANKS. The album was produced by GUS DUGEON and was co-ordinated by STEVE BROWN.
