Mit vier Jahren spielte er ein fünfzehnminütiges Konzert im Waldorf Astoria in New York, darin enthalten u. a. Frédéric Chopins Minutenwalzer; mit 14 hatte er seine erste eigene Gruppe. 1922 erzielte er seinen Durchbruch in der Band California Ramblers, bei der er bis 1926 blieb.
Rollini submitted his resignation to the Ramblers (where he was replaced by bass saxist Spencer Clark and later by bassist-tubist Ward Lay), and agreed to join Elizalde, along with fellow Ramblers Quealey, Felline, Russin, and (later) Davis, in 1927, and stayed until September 1928.

According to “Dan” Wyllie (in a 1983 or 1984 article), who worked in Elizalde’s first British band in 1926, Manuel Elizalde originally wanted to contract Bix Beiderbecke, but Bix had immediately joined Paul Whiteman after the collapse of Adrian Rollini’s New Yorker band.
