Juli 1945 zog Raeburn mit seiner Bigband an die Westküste der USA, da sie in New York zwar im Radio übertragen wurden, aber keinen Plattenvertrag bekamen. 1946 hatte sie mit French Horn, Harfe und doppelter Holzbläser -Besetzung eine Cool -Ausrichtung.
Raeburn's second wife was the singer Ginny Powell, for whom he wrote "Rip Van Winkle". The couple married in 1946, [2] had two children. [4] As well as singing with her husband's group, Powell also sang with Harry James and Gene Krupa. [4] Raeburn left music in the mid-1950s. [3]
The music on this CD represents both radio studio recordings and live club performances from Los Angeles in 1945 & 1946, shortly after Boyd Raeburn had moved his centre of operations from New York.
