Billy Cobham. William Emanuel Cobham Jr. (born May 16, 1944) is a Panamanian–American jazz drummer who came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with trumpeter Miles Davis and then with the Mahavishnu Orchestra . He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1987 [1] and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013. [2]

Billy Cobham (born 1944) Panamanian-American drummer Billy Cobham was born in Panama City as William Emanuel Cobham Jr. He came to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s as contemporary jazz began to draw extensively on rock rhythms and to harness the atmosphere and power of rock music to develop a new idiom eventually known as jazz-fusion.

In 2011 Cobham started teaching drums online at the Billy Cobham School of Drums which is a ArtistWorks Drum Academy. In 2018 Cobham toured across the US a performance series called "Crosswinds Project" which was his way of revisiting his second album, Crosswinds. The tour re-comprised his original work from the 1970's which continued into 2019 as a celebration of Cobham's 75th birthday.
