Aaron Klug was a pioneer in the field of structural biology and a pioneer in the development of ‘crystallographic electron microscopy’ to determine the three-dimensional structure of large protein complexes. He also studied the structure of tRNA, the nucleosome, and the zinc-finger DNA-binding module. He passed away on 20 November 2018 at the age of 92.
