Das Rennen am Sonntag wird zeigen, ob Abel Kirui noch einmal den Anschluss an die Weltspitze schafft. Zweimal war der inzwischen 33 Jahre alte Kenianer Marathon-Weltmeister – 2009 in Berlin und 2011 in Daegu (Südkorea). Außerdem gewann er bei Olympia in London (Großbritannien) Silber.
Abel Kirui is a Kenyan marathon runner who has won two World Championships and one Olympic silver medal. He has a personal best of 2:05:04 and has competed in several major marathons around the world.
Abel Kirui won the 2011 World Championships Marathon in Daegu, Korea, after changing his training venue and coach. He credited his Italian coach Renato Canova for helping him improve his endurance and strategy.
