Kim Bendix Petersen, more well-known as King Diamond, had stormed the world of metal music in Mercyful Fate prior launching his solo band. He had felt festive in 1985 with 'No Presents for Christmas', and again with 'Halloween' which appeared on this debut album, 'Fatal Portrait', in February 1986.
26. März 2022 · Tracks 1 through 4 and track 9 tell the Fatal Portrait story while the remaining songs are stand alone compositions. Reissued by Roadrunner Records on September 8th 2003 as a part of Roadrunner's Two from the Vault series remastered along with Abigail on 2 CD's, CD 1 has the same bonus tracks as the 1997 reissue.
Formation, Fatal Portrait and Abigail (1985–1987) The band was formed in 1985 by vocalist King Diamond , guitarist Michael Denner, and bassist Timi Hansen . [1] [2] The three had recently departed from the group Mercyful Fate , which fell apart due to musical differences between King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann.
