L’Académie royale d’architecture française est créée le 30 décembre 1671 par Louis XIV, roi de France. Inspirée par Jean-Baptiste Colbert, son premier directeur est l’architecte et théoricien François Blondel (1618-1686), architecte de la ville de Paris .
