Daniel Lanois (* 19. September 1951 in Hull, Québec, Kanada) ist ein kanadischer Musiker und Musikproduzent. Bekannt ist er vor allem für die Produktion erfolgreicher Alben von z. B. U2, Bob Dylan oder Peter Gabriel. Eine intensive Zusammenarbeit pflegt Lanois auch mit Brian Eno und Wim Wenders .

He has produced albums by artists including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Spoons, and Brandon Flowers. He collaborated with Brian Eno to produce several albums for U2, including The Joshua Tree (1987) and Achtung Baby (1991).
U2's drummer Larry Mullen Jr. and bass player Adam Clayton keep the timing on Acadie. An album I can see some wouldn't like but Daniel Lanois, to me at least, has always been a very creative producer the way he develops and builds songs, into what is the final product, which he has done on my successful albums he's produced.

Mai 2010 · Of course, "now" is misleading—he's recorded with Brian Eno, and masterfully produced albums by U2 ( The Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree ), the Neville Brothers ( Yellow Moon ), and Bob Dylan ( Oh Mercy ). Those studio streets were obviously two-way: Acadie bears healing scars of influence from each collaboration.

Juli 2007 · In 1989 Lanois released his own album, Acadie (Opal 2-25969), an evocative, if generally subdued, collection of original, folk-influenced songs in French and English (eg, 'The Maker' and 'Jolie Louise'). An international tour followed with a band that included his long-time studio associate, pianist and guitarist Malcolm Burn.
