Adolph Gottlieb war ein wichtiger Vertreter des Abstrakten Expressionismus, der von 1923 bis 1974 in New York lebte und arbeitete. He was born in New York to Jewish parents and studied at the Art Students League of New York, Paris and Germany. He was one of the most traveled artists of his generation and a teacher of his peers. He painted cacti, landscapes, symbols and abstract forms with color and space.
