Alfred „Al“ McKibbon (* 1. Januar 1919 in Chicago, Illinois; † 29. Juli 2005) war ein US-amerikanischer Jazzbassist. Leben und Wirken. McKibbon wuchs in Detroit auf und spielte in den örtlichen Bands, bis er 1943 und 1944 mit Lucky Millinder auf Tournee ging.
Biography. Noted for his rich, resonant tone and metronomic precision, Al McKibbon was one of the premier bassists of the early bebop era, supporting giants like Dizzy Gillespie, Coleman Hawkins, and Thelonious Monk in addition to collaborating with percussionist Chano Pozo to forge the sound of Afro-Cuban jazz.
